25/06/2025

On the evening of June 24th, members of the Toronto Delegation of the Canadian Association of the Order of Malta gathered to celebrate the Solemnity of their Holy Patron, St. John the Baptist. The historic St. John’s Chapel within St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica was filled with local Knights and Dames, joined by family and friends.

Holy Mass was celebrated by His Eminence Francis Cardinal Leo, Archbishop of Toronto, Bailiff Grand Cross of Honour and Devotion. He was assisted at the altar by His Excellency Bishop John Boissonneau, Grand Cross Conventual Chaplain ad honorem, and by the Reverend David Katulski, C.S.B., Magistral Chaplain. The Reverend Arthur Lee acted as Master of Ceremonies. Together, they led the congregation in prayer and reflection, honoring the enduring legacy of St. John the Baptist and the charitable mission of the Order. The Mass concluded with an impassioned singing of the Salve Regina.

After the Mass, a dinner for sixty guests was held at the National Club. The evening was marked by warm camaraderie, heartfelt speeches, and a shared sense of purpose. Cardinal Leo spoke about how humbling it was for him to participate in the papal conclave which elected Pope Leo XIV. Former Chancellor Joseph Stepehn spoke about some of the exciting upcoming projects of the Association. Knights and Dames mingled with guests and clergy, strengthening bonds within the Order and the wider community.

As the night drew to a close, the spirit of service and faith that defines the Order of Malta was palpable, leaving all in attendance inspired to continue their work in the name of their Holy Patron.
