Foreign press delegation meets the Lieutenant of the Grand Master
A delegation of the foreign press in Rome was received today at the Magistral Villa of the Sovereign Order of Malta. The Lieutenant of the Grand Master, Fra’ John Dunlap, met the journalists from many European countries – such as Germany, France, Austria and Poland – and from the United States.
“We live in a complex society, where the gap between rich and poor is ever wider, and the disadvantaged are increasingly pushed to the margins, forced to live a life of loneliness and hardship. The Order of Malta has a special radar to intercept those most in need and provide comfort and care, through medical assistance and psycho-social support in the many clinics and social facilities we have in 120 countries,” explained Fra’ John Dunlap addressing the reporters present.
During the meeting the Order of Malta’s main activities in the humanitarian field were illustrated, starting with aid for Ukrainian refugees and displaced persons with the distribution of over 6,000 tons of basic necessities and the deployment of medical teams in various locations in Ukraine.
The commitment of the Order of Malta’s diplomatic network in promoting dialogue and peace within the international community was also stressed.
At the end of the meeting with the Lieutenant Grand Master, the journalists were able to visit the Magistral Villa, its gardens with a panoramic view of Rome, and the Church of Santa Maria in Aventino, an artistic treasure by Giovanni Battista Piranesi.
