2025 Canadian Investiture in Montréal
On Saturday, September 27, 2025, the memorial of Saint Vincent de Paul, the Canadian Association of the Order of Malta celebrated an investiture in Montreal. The ceremony took place in the Chapel of Notre-Dame de Bon-Secours, where the mortal remains of Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys rest.
Five new members of the Order of Malta were invested:
- Father Pablo Santa Maria, priest of the Archdiocese of Vancouver, Magistral Chaplain;
- Father Tim Nelligan, priest of the Military Ordinariate currently serving in the Archdiocese of Ottawa, Magistral Chaplain;
- Sabrina Fiorellino, Dame of Magistral Grace;
- Brian Meloche, Knight of Magistral Grace;
- Niclas Switalski, Knight of Magistral Grace.
Mass was celebrated by His Excellency The Most Reverend Raymond Poisson, Bishop of Saint-Jérôme–Mont-Laurier, conventual chaplain ad honorem. He was assisted by Father G. Ryan Holly, Magistral Chaplain, and by Father Édouard Shatov, A.A. More than thirty members of the Order attended. After lunch, there was a tour of the chapel, the museum, and the archaeological site.
The Canadian Association held its Annual General Meeting the day before the investiture. The President, the Secretary General, and the National Hospitaller presented an update on the Association’s activities, including the annual pilgrimage to Lourdes and the first aid provided for the Jubilee Year in the papal basilicas of Rome.
On the evening of Saturday, September 27, a gala dinner was held at the officers’ mess of the Fusiliers Mont-Royal Garrison. Two professors from the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Montréal, Sylvie Gendron and Marjolaine Héon, gave a presentation on the Blessed Gerard Scholarship, which was funded by the Canadian Association and which allows several students to have a learning experience in Côte d’Ivoire.
